I just downloaded Channels and the DVR playback would freeze every time I tried to play something. If I disable my firewall it works fine but if it's enabled with the whitelisting necessary for channels, the DVR plays for a few seconds then freezes.
It turns out that my Linksys router has a known bug for causing trouble with video. It is a feature called "Express Forwarding". Why it only causes trouble with firewall enabled is beyond me!
Correct the problem by logging into the router and going to the connectivity option, administration tab. "Express Forwarding" is set by default. I unchecked the option and everything works.
