I recorded a football game and started watching it one hour in. when starting the game I got a black screen with 00:00 time and the indicator just span.
How can I figure out what happened to the recording?

yup, restarted the whole mini.
Happened again last night. Go to watch the recording and it’s a black screen with the spinner and 00:00 for the time.

It seems like your recordings drive is failing. It’s throwing errors when trying to create recording files, and the write speeds are not keeping up with the incoming data.
huh weird. It’s a relatively new (bought it when the DVR beta started) Seagate Expansion 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEB5000100).
It’s connected to a Mac mini that’s pretty old. Maybe the read/write speed from the mini to the drive isn’t fast enough to keep up? I’m sure the mini isn’t USB 3.0.
It does work 95% of the time.
I have this same drive attached to a 2012 Mac Mini. Bought in Jan for sole purpose of storing Channels DVR recordings on it. It has (twice I believe) “gone out to lunch” and caused jobs to fail to record. Simple reboot of the Mini returns it to normal operation. I’ve not investigated the issue further but will next time it happens.

I’ll see if I can find another drive for now.
FWIW, mine did this again last week. A reboot did not fix it, but unplugging and re-plugging did. Since this is a DVR and I need a more reliable solution I’ve replaced this with a new drive.
I removed the drive from the case and put it in m NAS. So far; so good.
