I am planning on switching from cable to OTA. I just installed my antenna and HDHomeRun Quatro. The problem is that one of the broadcast stations does not come in clearly. In my sources list, I have the Quatro first and Locast second.
What I would like to do is have all stations recorded from the Quatro except for for the CW (11). I would like all recordings for that station to be from Locast.
It should be disabled on the top priority HDHR. That way it will always tune from Locast.
I'm not sure if it has been changed since I last tested it, but last I checked the DVR will look in priority order, preferencing favorites on that specific device. If the channel is available on the first priority device (favorite or not), it will be tuned on the first priority device (even if the same channel is a favorite on a lower priority device). You would need to disable it on the HDHR so it always tunes on the second priority source.
This is not my experience. The DVR will select the first favorited instance of a channel, going down the source priority list. Then if no source has an airing on a favorited channel, it will go down the priority list checking for non-favorited channels that have an airing.
(My first two sources have many of the same channels. To ensure that the proper source is chosen for recording, I have the channels I wish to be used on the lower priority source marked as a favorite. To date, Channels has always chosen the favorite from the lower priority source, even when the same channel is available from a higher priority source, as long as it is not a favorite on the higher priority source.)
It works that way if the Channels are the same channel number (same RF). Priority first. If they are different channel numbers, it will work like you said.
