Recording has sound but no picture

We have been using Channels DVR for about 5 weeks now. I have had this problem happen twice in the last couple weeks when trying to record “America’s Got Talent“ from NBC delivered to Channels DVR by my Locast subscription. I think that the first time, we had scheduled the recording a couple of days in advance, and some reason the broadcast did not start on time. So I am not sure if that would cause the problem or not. But the second time the show started at the correct time. I am at a loss to figure out why it would record the sound only for just AGT on NBC. All of the other programs we have recorded with Channels DVR have played back with no problems.

Another glitch we discovered is the schedule data passed to Channels DVR from various providers does not always contain all the info needed to set up season pass recordings for some shows. Hallmark on Philo has a show we like and lists in their search function as having a season 1, 4 and 5 and yet Philo broadcasts the season 2 and 3 shows in the proper sequence. So apparently the season 2 and 3 data is missing in their database. The season pass function on Channels will NOT work for the season 2 and 3 shows. It took us a while to figure out why the recordings were failing, but that’s what we discovered. We had to mark each season 2 and 3 show separately so they could be recorded.

Have you tried the recording on a different device? Sometimes a black screen is known to be caused by buggy hardware decoders. If you change to software decoding in the advanced video settings does the problem still occur?

Regarding the guide data, that doesn’t come from the providers, it’s provided by Gracenote, I believe. Is your pass set to record all episodes?

A couple weeks ago there was a Locast issue where NBC was audio only. It's not your system, nor is it a Channels issue; it was a Locast issue.

Yes, we tried to record all episodes. But if Philo doesn’t see them as season 2 or 3 then how could Channels DVR?

If it was a Locast issue then that explains it. Thanks for the heads up...

It’s possible Philo uses a different source for the guide. I’m not saying Channels could be wrong as well, just pointing out that the guide data does not come from the providers.
