Recording Interrupted Segment out of Range

I've also been experiencing the same problem with "recording interrupted" messages throughout October mainly on Fridays- Housewives of NJ (Bravo), 20/20 (ABC), Gutfeld (Fox Business) and occasionally on Tuesdays with American Built( Fox Business). All using TVE provided by Optimum. Using Win 10 on an iCore5 mini-pc and a Seagate 5TB external drive. frequent error code is "Segment out of Range". What path/ checklist should I use to troubleshoot the cause?

Please go to Support -> Troubleshooting -> Submit Diagnostic Logs from the web interface of the DVR and let us know when it's been submitted so we can have a better idea of what was going on.

The DVR Server is on a Minisforum/Besstar U700 MiniPC:

  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19044 Build 19044
  • CPU: iCore 5-5257U @2.7GHz
  • RAM: 7.93 GB

Input sources:

  • Optimum TVE
  • HDHomeRum Prime

Storage:

  • Seagate 5TB (primary)
  • WD Elements 10TB
  • Fanthom 1TB

Thanks

It looks like the computer isn’t able to write the recordings to disk fast enough. Either the disk or CPU is being overloaded.

Take a look at advanced power setting on that PC.
I had to use Windows POWERCFG command to disable disk idle timeout on AC power.
POWERCFG /X disk-timeout-ac 0

If the PC is connected to a UPS and you want it to record while on UPS power, I would also disable disk idle timeout on DC power.
POWERCFG /X disk-timeout-dc 0

Before that it would take up to 10 seconds for the disk to spinup just to edit a text file on it.
Win10 doesn't surface all the advanced power management settings in the GUI that Win7/8 did.
Another setting to look at is USB Selective Suspend.

I would would switch to Maximum performance power plan and adjust from there.

DISCLAINER: I tun Channels DVR on my Synology NAS's, not my Windows PC

Thanks Eric!
