Recording Multiple Subchannels with Single Tuner

This topic was discussed a couple of years ago in this forum.... but I have not heard anything since.

Here is the problem. I currently use Plex DVR and it records multiple shows on 1 tuner if the shows are on a subchannel of the same main channel, i.e. if they are muxed together into 1 signal. This causes a problem for me, for some reason, if the shows are at different resolutions. For example, if 1 show is 1080i and another is 480i, then the 480i is recorded okay, but the 1080i is garbled.

So I am shopping for a new DVR software. Channels looks pretty good, but I want to make sure I don't run into this same problem. I want to know that Channels does 1 show per tuner and none of this muxed recording stuff. Or at least if it does it (which many seem to like) that there is an option to revert to 1 show per tuner. I have 2 HDHomeRun Quads, so I have all the tuners I need for discrete tuning and recording.

Channels will only use a tuner for each "channel". Meaning, each program on a mux uses a tuner itself. If you have 3 channels (programs) all broadcast on the same mux (frequency), then Channels will need 3 separate tuners to access those programs at the same time.

Brilliant!! Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thank you so much for your response.
