Because I use an Antenna at certain times of the year the signal tends to change I sometimes record the same show on 2 different channels such as 12.1 and 4.1 both are CBS to make sure I record my Wife's favorite shows glitch free. However, when I program to record on 4.1 then go to 12.1 to program that, Channels shows it already scheduled and won't let me program the 2nd channel.. What channel is it actually recording from since it shows both? Really need the ability to record some things on 2 channels and know which it actually recording from.
It's been requested many times before.
Channels DVR doesn't (easily) let you record the same program/episode more than once.
If they had a pass option to record "everything", it would work.
You can manually select a program/episode to record as a duplicate, but since it's not in a pass, if the guide updates and the airing time changes it won't update your manually scheduled recording.
My current workaround is to run two Channels DVR servers.
Look in the Scheduled recordings view to see. If more than one channel is listed there, it will try them in order, from left to right.
Actually from Atv it allowed me to schedule the same show twice on 2 channels at the same time and is currently recording both but from the server web interface it would not. I haven't tried IOS yet on the iPad.
Right, but doing that manually for every one sucks!
Not an issue for me since that's the way I have done it since 2010...on EyeTV and I don't do it all the time, just when the signal might be questionable. Since the last repack and some stations selling out for $$$ and went to lower bands it's been an issue and virtually no one makes a Lo VHF antenna now.
There are a number of inconsistencies between interfaces with ChannelsDVR though, that's one of them.
Yup, being able to record "everything" is probably my #1 feature request.
Like chDVRuser, I do the same workaround of having multiple DVR servers. To me, having to manage multiple servers with passes is less of a hassle than having to remember to manually check what's being recorded; especially when I'm out somewhere and don't have access to do a manual check.
I have the exact problem with CW network. I have one channel recording normally in Channels as a pass. The other recording is done as a manual recording based on time, date, and channel. There is no real easy way to do a manual recording, but there are plenty of past discussions on the different ways to do it.
The biggest problem is that you have to manually set each one. I solved this problem for myself by having a program run each day to see what needs to be submitted for that day. This works, as long as the program stays at the same day of week and time.
Unfortunately, my solution is specific to my other software and would not work for others.
