Recording Status Bug

I have encountered the following issue and it is about to happen again. I can’t say for sure if the issue is with the tvOS app or the DVR as I’ve not checked the behavior on the web app or iOS.

I have a movie on PBS scheduled to record at 8 PM. It will air simultaneously on channels 9.1 and 54.2. Channel 9.1 is a favorite and Channels DVR will correctly record it on 9.1; but the tvOS app lists it now to record on 54.2 (as does the iOS app, the DVR web app shows both channels). Also, the DVR log shows it recording on 54.2:

2018/06/30 18:01:00 [DVR] Waiting 1h58m29.353571098s until next job 1530413970-ch54.2 Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954)

At 8 PM tonight, the DVR tab will continue to show the movie scheduled to record on 54.2. It will not show it recording and clicking on the entry does not give the chance to cancel the recording. Rather, Clicking will give the chance to record the movie.

Again, the right thing happens WRT recording, but the UI does not show a status of recording (at least in the tvOS app).

Clicking it where? Clicking in the Schedule should always show a cancel option.

Clicking on the schedule does not show a cancel option. It shows a record option. It turns out I’m going to be home at 8 pm, so I will be able to verify that it still happens (as both the DVR and the apps have been updated).

Can you snap a screenshot of the DVR web UI schedule tab?

I assume you created this recording via a search?

Created via the web UI search’s movies tab. The DVR web UI is correct (as I said above). tvOS and iOS only list 54.2in the schedule.

Having trouble uploading the screenshot. Will try again in a follow-up post.

Switching to another browser tab/website while uploading then coming back sometimes helps the upload finish. Otherwise you can email it to me [email protected]

The issue still exists. It’s on tvOS and iOS. The web app has it right. Email with photo you requested plus a video of what’s going on with the tvOS app will follow shortly.

Edit: mail sent

The log entries for starting the recording.

Thanks. The tvOS screencap shows the bug clearly. Definitely unexpected behavior.

BTW, FireTV and Android (SonyTV) correctly show the movie recording (on ch 9.1) in the schedule.

We finally tracked this down. It was surprisingly on the DVR side, and will be fixed in the next DVR build.
