Redetect Commercials (on TV library outside of Channels)

So I have my primary TV and Movie database linked to Channels that I use for long term saving. On a couple shows I ran commercial redetect to eliminate the long credits at the end (didn't realize how long it was originally).

It works great but my question is where is the log created to take with the video file to MCEBuddy?

Or should I move the video files back in to the Channels folder structure then do the commercial recognition?

Not really sure what you mean

How are you "linking" a database to Channels?

Did you use Channels to detect the commercials? If so, how?

What log are you looking for?

Not sure what you mean. Move them from where, and to what Channels folder structure?

Under Local Storage: You can connect your TV+Movie sources from your NAS to Channels so instead of using Plex as an example you can see all that content Channels as well.

On shows you have loaded in via "local storage" if you go to that show Library -> TV Shows -> Select Show -> scroll down to an episode -> click options on specific show -> "redetect commercials"

This will let you actually recognize commercials on local content. Its also helpful if you had originally left in credits and now want to skip/remove them.

With the Channels DVR recorded content I can move that to MCEBuddy and remove the commercials. With the content in the "local storage" though I don't see any change to the video file or comskip file. So I know Channels is saving it somewhere because its able to recognize the commercials were scanned for the specific tv show I just don't know where its being saved.

I don't use MCEBuddy (I use VideoReDo), so someone familiar with it will have to comment.
I think it can use the EDL file that Channels DVR generates though.
You can turn that on in the web UI settings under Integrations > EDL Export
There are a bunch of files generated by comskip in the Logs/comskip/file# folders
video.edl
video.ffmeta
video.ffsplit
video.log
video.txt
video.vdr

Perfect

Do you know how I find the correct folder for the content? I could do it based on the time I redetected commercials but it seems everything is labeled the same just in a folder with a number?

One final question (although I might need to do some searching) does the log folder automatically get deleted at some point? Or do I need to manually clean that up if I no longer need the comskip?

The number is based on the recording number. If you click View Details on the web UI you will see the number listed

The comskip dir is cleaned up when the recording is deleted from the dvr

Perfect thank you. I will play with it but I think I have what I need.
