Refreshing of shows

Not sure if this is the right place or not, but here goes.

I have the channels DVR setup on an older iMac and it runs perfectly fine, I also have TVShows and Movies on external source in this case a Synology NAS, again all works fine.

As I tend to add some shows daily and delete the ones I have watched mostly some I keep. I notice that even though the shows are deleted from the NAS or the iMac they are still being shown in the line up.

How do I get this to refresh or update as changed are made to the source areas. In the local content section I have manually scanned sources in the Maintenance area but does not help.

Thoughts???

It sounds like you are deleting these files outside of ChannelsDVR (instead of using the trash). Channels doesn’t handle outside change very well. I think the maintenance scanning sources and pruning deleted only works on imported sources. The sources scan automatically runs frequently, but I believe the prune deleted is only manual. If a scan has been done already you can also go to the show page -> more options -> prune missing recordings.

If you are deleting DVR recordings outside of Channels then I think you can run the following curl command to clean things up.

curl -XPUT http://SERVER_IP:8089/dvr/pruner/deleted

Of course replace out the SERVER_IP for the IP address of the channels server.

Spot on...worked a treat. I have made note of this command and will run it periodically. Thank you.

I guess I was thinking it would work like PLEX does, but I much prefer this software, so am happy to do this now and then. Good to know about the handling of deletions and you are right, I was deleting outside of the DVR by just going finder and finding my NAS and deleting from there.

You can use DVR Database > Maintenance > Manage to view and clean up Removed recordings

Oh wow. I always forget that is there. It is quite literally a hidden gem. It is so easy for me to miss that gear. I think it is because it is between the stats and the storage path whereas the maintainance drop down gear is at the bottom of the guide database and local content boxes. But that is probably just a me problem.

Ha! I learn something new everyday! I have always done the manual prune deleted button at the bottom. It never even occurred to me to use you're way.
