Remote access need static IP?

Just a quick question to either other users or the developers…in order to keep being able to access Channels DVR remotely through my browser, do I need to upgrade my Comcast service to have a static IP? I have been saving the IP from the app on my DVR server, but Comcast keeps changing it, of course, but I know I can just have them give me a static. Or is there another way I am missing that others are using to connect in remotely, even with a dynamic IP?

Just wanted to solve this as I will be going on a trip soon and wanted to have access consistently while I was away.

Thanks!

Static IP would work, but is not strictly necessary. There are several “dynamic dns” services available (many for free), which will keep track of your IP address if it changes. On your home router’s web interface, you can probably find a dynamic dns setting which will let you configure it with the service of your choice.

Interestingly enough, my comcast IP has never changed in several years…

Good call on the dynamic IP. Yeah its been weird recently…it has changed several times recently. Thank you for the help!
