Remote access using the same equipment is stable using web ui but through atv beta’s last built the signal is unstable at any level of encoding.
I need more details… what behavior are you seeing? Is it pausing to buffer repeatedly?
I assume you are talking about live tv and not recordings?
Hi Aman,
it’s about live tv.
We are experiencing small pauses every 5 to 10 seconds.
Some other times you will notice snow for a fraction of a second.
I isn’t better at all if I reduce the quality.
We are using a Mac Mini with chipset i7 16G of ram with 2 X HDHR connect.
Our internet is 12Mps up and 17 down on speed tests.
I can see the problem in 2 different locations with 2 different ATV4 as well as in my iPhone 6s using the iOS channels app. The web UI through Safari is perfect and smooth at any resolution.
Both houses, sender and receiver, uses the same internet in which is pretty fast for this exercise.
I am trying to build a group of 4 persons that will use channel remotely using the same antenna but for now those tests are made only one at the time.
Please try the latest testflight beta.
Yeah the latest beta did improve remote app streaming for me. Still not as smooth as Plex yet but getting there.
It is way better but you have to wait at least two minutes to get stability. This period gets pauses every 10 seconds and sometimes it can be a long one.
Then, I’m noticing kind of snow or artefacts every ounce in a while but not regularely. It doesn’t seem to be the kind of artefact you get when you dont have a good RF reception.
It looks like the quality selected affects image as it should but do not stop those pauses at the beginning.
Also, if I want to change channel, I have to exit to guide or thumbnails because if I use the drop down menu, it starts a buffering routine that never ends.
Note: comments from André, JP and Normpak are all from me (Norm) as I’m the one who tries to install them all on the same antenna. They all bought their app and contributed to the dvr subscription.
