Remote Access Not Working with VPN

When trying to initiate a remote access connection to my channels DVR server and a VPN is active on the server & the client device, the connection will fail.

The error message states port 8089 is not open on my router. Although it is, the VPN exposes an IP address different from my router's IP. Channels is evidently using an IP found in the setup traffic and assuming it is mine.

Short of shutting down the VPNs, what solutions are available?

If you are connected via VPN, then Channels does not consider that a remote connection. Instead, the app considers it to be the same as if you were at home on the same LAN.

If you wish to use the remote connection ("Connect Away from Home"), then you must disconnect the VPN session.
