Remote Access setup

I just opened up port 8089 through my router last night so I could try to get into Channels remotely today.

When I entered External IP:8089/admin/ into the browser’s address bar, I get an “Unauthorized” page with a link to get an Authorization Code. I clicked on the link and I was shown a page with a long authorization code on it. It’s not clear to me if I even needed that code because I see nowhere to actually enter it.

Can someone provide direction?

Thanks!

Anybody know what that “Get Authorization Code” was for? I’m wondering if I need to keep it for anything.

You need to ensure the remote access setting on the DVR web settings UI is enabled and then access via https://my.channelsdvr.net

You can copy the code and paste it into the window where you initially saw the unauthorised message, and hit enter. Then it will work.

I didn’t see a window to enter anything into, but thanks for trying to help. The problem ended up being that I had forgotten to approach from the link tmm1 provided. That solved the issue.

If someone were to enter My External IP:8089/admin/ into the browser’s address bar, would they be able to get that code and access my DVR server? Would that be a security issue?

No. You have to be logged in to the account in order to get the code.
