Remote Access - Spinning "Requesting HTTPS Cert", then no Access

Not sure related, but timing suggests it is.

I tried to enable remote access earlier today. First tried the "Automatic" option, but could not find my router. With a static IP, I port-forwarded 8089, but got a spinning "Requesting HTTPS Cert..." type message. I saw a support topic suggesting adding .../auth/refresh to the server connection string. No luck. Stopping and starting the Win10 process had no effect.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the Win10 server and Android client. I am NOW able to select the "Manual" port forward option with no spinning thingy. But, clicking the app from my phone while OFF local wifi, I get a message like "You don't have out of home streaming enabled."

Am I missing step, or did I manage to get tangled-up by aborting/reinstalling before the spinning thingy resolved?

Note: My Plex server is remotely accessible via similar port forwarding of 32400. VPN is turned off for the moment, but split-tunneling does work for Plex server.

Click Check For Update > Prerelease and try to access it after

Thanks, but no change.

Troubleshooting indicates "...current IP for this system is 72.235.xxx.xxx." I port forwarded 192.168.86.99:8089. 72.235.xxx.xxx is my external addr, correct?

Suggestions?

Looks like you have two different accounts? You have to be logged into the correct one to access the dvr

Thx, troubleshooting does now report Remote Access is established. That's good. Android client still seems confused.

I do not think I have another Channels DVR account, but I will poke around.

There are two accounts posting in this thread.

Look at who your first post was from

Hmm, Interesting. Had no clue. Might just be a 2nd account in the support forums; not exactly sure how I toggled between them here just now. I know I am not paying for 2 Server accounts.

I'll get this straightened away and see if that helps w my Remote Access issue.

So, still unable to remotely connect. Here's where I stand:

  1. VPN = Off
  2. Manually forwarded port 8089 on a static IP, selected Manual option in settings
  3. At home, Troubleshooting reports "Remote connection was established"
  4. From phone, w wifi off, clicking app = "Server could not be discovered"
  5. Uninstalled Android client, reinstalled.
  6. Pointed to Channels server on 192.168.86.99 (static), same result.

Any suggestions to try?

Note: As mentioned above, I had 2 accounts in the support forum, one was accessed via the Channels support link, the other via an old, separate browser bookmark. I only have a single server account.

Check your port at https://portchecker.co/
Use your external 72 ip port 8089
Does it show open true

72.xxx.xxx.xxx Port 8089 is Open.

Thx for that link. Very helpful.

Have you verified your server ip and that there is not a typo in the router ip settings

Yes, checked several times. IP number is coming from the router settings (not typed by me, but they are correct). I only added 8089 port number to external and internal port values. I selected TCP - correct?

As noted: My Plex server is accessible via similar port forwarding

Does your android device settings allow the channels app access to cellular data?

Yep, data access avail on cellular.

Does my.channelsdvr.net load over LTE?

Please also try updating your DVR to pre-release.

Already updated to pre-release. No effect.

my.channelsdvr.net from my Android device (with WiFi "off") returns: "You do not have out of home streaming enabled."

You have to make sure that getchannels.com/account says markp99dvr before my.channelsdvr.net will work

Thanks. Using the link provided, I signed-out and back in as markp99dvr.

Clicking the Android app produces the same result (~Unable to discover server).

Trying "my.channelsdvr.net" produces the same message: "You do not have out of home streaming enabled."

Maybe a fresh server install w confirmed login credentials?

Does clicking this make any difference: http://192.168.86.99:8089/auth/refresh
