Remote Connection Away From Home Not Working

Recently when I try to connect remotely it is not working. I did submit a diagnostic log this evening. It connects fine through the web browser remotely but not via android or ios app. If I can get it to connect and I close the app it wants to re-authenticate again.

When it authenticates I either seem to get the error that channels dvr server at home cannot be reached and then if I refresh I can get into the app. When I get in either recordings are not showing up, or the guide and tv tuners or both. I do not seem to have full access. The correct port is opened and confirmed by portchecker.co inside my network and remotely. When I run troubleshooting every fifth time or so it will say no remote access which seems to be weird. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch which did not help. Is there possibly an error on the channels server side?

I am attaching a screenshot of one of the errors:

I appreciate the help in advance.

Update your dvr to prerelease using the check for update dropdown

I was initially on the most recent pre-release and was having the same issue which is why I reverted back. I just tried to update again and am getting the same errors.

I submitted another diagnostic log.

So currently my.ChannelsDVR.net works but the apps don't? Have you tried the beta apps?

Yes I am usually on the beta apps and I just switched off of those to test as well. Both are having the same issue.

If I login at my.channelsdvr I am fine.

On the apps after a few tried I can get logged in and I then have either no tuners showing or tuners and a guide and no dvr library. If I close the app and re-open I have to re-authenticate every time and it is anyones guess as to what will work when I get back in after a few tries.

Please submit diagnostics from the app

Update. I just did a hard restart on my router by pulling the p[ug instead of selecting restart from the gui. I updated to the latest version of docker and prevented docker from running at startup and restarted my computer (I had previously disabled the virtual docker adapters which did not help) and I am now able to connect on the app without issue and dvr library and guide/tuners are displaying. I am not sure which was responsible. I have been running docker since April/May and had not had an issue with it previously.

I will report back if I see the problem again.

I spoke too soon. I just went to login in again and while it did not prompt me for my credentials It loaded without tuners/guide data and without recordings. Diagnostics from app submitted as well as from server.

Seems to be some sort of network connectivity issue?

10-22 13:06:22.600 7129 7129 V DVRClient: Jobs error: io.ktor.network.sockets.ConnectTimeoutException: Connect timeout has expired [url=https://x.u.channelsdvr.net:8089/dvr/jobs, connect_timeout=5000 ms]
10-22 13:06:22.601 7129 7129 V DVRClient: Files error: io.ktor.network.sockets.ConnectTimeoutException: Connect timeout has expired [url=https://x.u.channelsdvr.net:8089/dvr/files?raw=false, connect_timeout=5000 ms]

That would seem to explain the issue certainly. Now the question becomes any idea how to solve it?

I have submitted some additional logs

What cell and ISP carrier are you using? I'm assuming when you mention android and ios you are trying to connect over cellular.

I use ATT fiber at my home and ATT for my cell service. I found that ATT was causing an issue for other ATT services to connect. For example, I could connect just fine using wireless Tmobile and Verizon and Comcast Cable. But my neighbor also with ATT fiber and my ATT wireless devices exhibited the same issue you detail. Up and down connectivity and when it does, it is weak and then stops working.

I contacted ATT about it. They said they would look into it and let me know. They never let me know, but the issues stopped and my ATT wireless now works.

Issue occurs over T-Mobile, Verizon, Windstream and Spectrum so not limited to ISP but thanks for the suggestion.

I was finding that the port(s) were randomly closing with my old router. I replaced the router today and so far so good. Will post an update once this is confirmed to resolve the problem.
