So I have what may seem to be a dumb question but how does remote connection work exactly? I want to give someone in another location access to my channels DVR remotely. Say a vacation home with an AppleTV that is not on the same network or even with the same appleID. They download the Channels app and then go to view it. How does it know the IP address of my server? What does my.channelsdvr.com actually do? How does it know to choose my server over any other?
They would choose an “out of home” connection, and then follow the instructions to log in with your account credentials.
Ok that makes more sense now but one more question if I may. I changed the address of my server but the other appletv is not asking for a login. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling and it still isnt asking.

On the ATV app go to settings > at the very top click on “Channels DVR Connected” > choose Log Out.
