With version 1.0.1 of the iOS app and the latest ATV beta, you can now change channels on your ATV using your iPhone or iPad. Click “Watch Now” and then select your Apple TV from the list.
Try this feature out once you install the latest ATV beta and let us know how it works for you.

Great feature. I think remote control and ATV top shelf are my two favorite features of channels. Overall performance is most important but these features are improvements in the experience of watching live TV.
Any idea why my appletv would not be showing up in the list when I hit watch now?
Is the app running on your ATV? The feature only works while Channels is the active app.
Yup. Have it tuned to a channel on the appletv. Was trying to see if I could change to a different channel from my phone.
Make sure you are running 1.5.4 on the ATV
Kinda weird. I got it working. I had to enable AirPlay and mirror the screen. Disabled mirroring and then the option to watch on my appletv showed up.
