Remote DVR Access - Can't Connect

Hello - having trouble connecting remotely to my DVR this morning. Have had no problems in the past, and haven't changed anything on my end. Running on Windows 10. Getting this error

This site can’t be reached

xxxxx.u.channelsdvr.net refused to connect.

Looking under the troubleshooting menu
emote Access

Could not connect to xxxxx.u.channelsdvr.net. Check if the port is mapped.

Any advice on what to to do, or is this a known issue?

Does portchecker.co show 8089 as open?

no, it's showing as closed

I went into firewall settings and set a rule to open it. It didn't immediately work, so I restarted my modem and router, and now it's working. So not sure what fixed it.

Is this common that it work one day, and all of sudden the port is closed?

Can happen on some buggy routers. You could change the DVR from Automatic to Manual under Remote Access and then setup the port forward on the router yourself. That should help it stick and prevent some bugs.

ok thanks, I'll keep an eye on it and change that setting if it seems to be a problem
seems pretty straightforward to set up

I'm having this issue as well. I set it to Manual under Remote Access and forwarded the port on my Nest router. No luck.

Mine stopped working again shortly after I reset everything, so I did the port forwarding, and now it's working fine.

I did also notice some other internet issues yesterday, so am worried my router might be starting to go bad. Not sure why these things only last a few years!
