Hello, I'm having some trouble with Remote DVR access using the IOS app, local access works fine. I've tried both the manual, and automatic setting neither work. I've rebooted the server, it didn't help. I've checked the routers configuration, and it is properly configured to forward port 8089 to the proper machine on the network. I do have another media server product running on the same server as Channels DVR, it works just fine. Checking the log file, I am seeing that the server is successfully mapping the port: "[NAT] Successfully mapped port 8089 using upnp". An external port scan does show the port to be open. I'm running a Ubiquiti Edgerouter. Any ideas?
Please go to the Help menu and Submit Diagnostic Logs from the DVR and let us know when you’ve done it so we can check this out.
I did, dd1312a7-669e-4954-966a-f08e0620e38e
Could you try again now? We were having some issues with one of our DNS providers earlier and it should be resolved now.
It works now, thank you.
Are there any instructions somewhere here in the Community section on just what needs to be doing in terms of port forwarding, and how to do it, in order to get remote access working?
Not specifically, because most every router is different. In short, have your router forward port 8089/TCP to the IP that your DVR server is assigned. To ensure this is more stable, assign either a static IP or DHCP reservation for that machine. Then ensure your DVR server is set for a manual port forward, to stop it from attempting to use UPnP to set its own forwarding rules.
In short, check your router's documentation.
