I currently have Channels on my parent's AppleTV devices, connecting remotely to my DVR over the Internet. They can currently only watch my locals via that setup, plus TV Everywhere. If I were to install an antenna and HDHR tuner at their home, could I have them access that tuner directly from Channels on their AppleTVs, while still connecting to my DVR remotely, with everything integrated into their channel guide? I know they won't be able to record their locals, but I don't care about that.
Yes, local HDHRs will be discovered and shown in the guide.
But they won’t have guide data. At least when I tried setting up a tuner this same way in my RV there was no way to setup guide data for those channels.
Yes, it will work. I just travelled from Australia to the UK and was able to remotely stream HDHR sources using a firestick from my setup back in Aus. Had to turn the bitrate down a little, but worked a charm. Guide data worked just like it does at home.
It will work with guide data, it will just come from Silicon Dust and will only be 24 hours worth. Additionally, the channels can only be watched live, not recorded.
