I’ve looked through other posts here which have been helpful but am unable to resolve our issue other than temporarily. We are remote on vacation with an iMac running the DVR server at home. We couldn’t connect, then called our son who’s at home and had him reset the Remote service. It worked fine for a whole day after that, then the next day it quit working. Had him reset it again and once more it began working. Now it’s back to “server stopped responding again”. In going through the Help, everything shows as green when it’s up. We don’t want to have our son reset the remote service every day, but I’m guessing I’ll need to be back home to troubleshoot anything with the network. Any idea of what might be happening?

Ok so one potential cause discovered. Apparently there have been some power glitches back home due to stormy weather. Perhaps that is causing some rebooting or other disruption that led to this. Our son once again enabled remote DVR and it’s back up again.
Ideally you would set that to Manual, and setup your router with both the port forward and DHCP reservation manually.
