Remote Viewing Issue Diagnosed

I've diagnosed the problem with my videos pausing when viewing content away from home. The netbook PC I've setup as the Channels server isn't up to running ffmpeg.exe. It only has a N4000 CPU, which is adequate for home use, but ffmpeg.exe running maxes it out even though it's 1,100 speed exceeds the minimum specified requirements.

Any workarounds to that problem, other than using a more powerful computer? Selecting the option to run the older transcoder didn't help (it still seems to run the same program).

I purposefully wanted a low power device to run Channels, so this is disappointing.

That CPU can do QuickSync do you have hardware transcoding enabled ?

Yes, I tried both hardware and software transcoding.

No. Remote viewing requires Ffmpeg to remux or transcode the stream; there is no way around this. That processor simply is not powerful enough to handle that process in this situation.

You can forget software not going to happen. Do you also have Hardware de-interlacing ?

I'm assuming you are running Windows, based upon this. You can try a minimal Linux install, which will probably use far less resources than Windows on the same hardware. This will free up additional resources for your transcoding usage.

Is Hardware de-interlacing blend or linear?

I don't have the Hardware option for Deinterlacer, only blend and Linear.

That is your problem are you on the latest pre-release ?

Yes, it is Windows. I could try Linux since I don't really use this computer for anything else. I assume ChromeOS is not an option????

Download the Intel update utility and make sure you have the latest video drivers ...

I'm on version 2022.03.23.0209.

That should be ok make sure you have the latest video drivers from Intel see my link above.

Working on that Intel update, but judging from the updates available I'm sort of doubting that will help.

Not really. If you want to hack around, there are options for it. Personally, for Linux servers I've gotten lazy and use Fedora server.

Also another thing if running as a service make sure you are using the user acct to run it.

How about no transoding. Just set the quality to original. I dont use any transcoding at all...

That all depends on the upload speed of your internet. And the speed of your remote client wireless connection.

I guess that those are variables that we dont know...
