Renaming a hard drive

I think I know the answer to this but thought I'd double check anyway.

I name the hard drives I use to store my media files "Media 1", "Media 2", etc... I recently added a new drive and just realized I spelled "Media" wrong in its name! If this were the filename of a video I could ignore it because those are deep in folders I don't see and Channels would fix the name on the client. But this hard drive name is on my desktop every time I look at it! Is there a simple way to fix this without having to reimport every thing on the drive back in to Channels?

Thankfully there are too many videos on it yet so it won't be terrible to redo it, but fingers crossed!

The hard drive name is not taken into consideration when importing media do you mean the folder name ? as the hard drive can be named anything. At least this is the case in Windows.

If you're on Windows, it's a volume label that can be changed.
Windows uses drive letters to identify drives.

I'm on a Mac, so, in this case, my file path as listed under sources is "/Volumes/Meda HD IV/Channels DVR/".

Pretty sure you can uncheck the Server Enabled checkbox
Rename the path
from /Volumes/Meda HD IV/Channels DVR/
to /Volumes/Media HD IV/Channels DVR/
Select the new path and check the Server Enabled checkbox

@jamesrw
Did that work for you?

Not quite solved, unfortunately.

chDVRuser's idea did work when it comes to shows and movies recorded by Channels DVR. The saved file path stored in the database for those video files starts from the Channels directory itself. So changing the hard drive name is fine as long as you adjust it in the software per chDVRuser's instructions.

However, video content added manually by the user is saved under its full file path -- which makes sense since it can be anywhere on your server, including a drive than Channels itself.

So unless there's a way to directly manipulate the database and do a search and replace of all instances of "Meda HD" to "Media HD", it appears I'll have to delete and reimport those videos.

Thanks for the suggestions!

There was a mention that making moving Personal Media folders around would be possible. I have an overly convoluted folder structure that I'd like to clean up but currently the only way is to delete and re-import.

I'm trying to find the topic and post from TMM1 about it.
