Request: can DVR Server ditch Chrome / Keystone? Is there an interim way to avoid Chrome?

LOL. The M1 is faster and runs cooler than any other consumer Intel chip on the market, while still managing to run legacy x86 bytecode. This ship has sailed, and Apple is not going to abandon a decade worth of engineering that went into this release.

lol. Intel is old news now. Ways behind AMD for cpus development and performance, not to mention value for cost. (o. and lets not forget the unfixable and severe security flaws that Intel has had for decades in their hardware)

Seems to me that custom chips, as well as ARM cpus are more and more in use, may be the future.

Though, i wouldn't be buy anything Apple anyways...ever, so, it makes no matter to me what hardware Apple decides to move over to.

Old games won't work on M1. Computer must be a good tool for fun and for work.
Sorry, Intel is the way to go in the future, if there was otherwise Apple would never shifted from PowerPC.
I understand your point about ARM but market evolves always into something cheaper and more common e.g VHS vs Betamax. Even sony ditched their own CPU in PS3 in favor of doing console more PC-like.

Lol

Games? were talking Macintosh here...not PC.
You are free to live in your own fantasy world and have a right to your opinion on what the future holds, same as all of us here...but, you really need to read tech news.
Even Microsoft is moving to ARM and also moving the Windows to run on the Linux kernal...which, supports ARM as well.

The market is evolving, yes, to use and embrace ARM.
The Rasbperry Pi and other tiny project boards are extremely popular, especially for Retro gamers. It can be setup to emulate nearly all the older games councils.

Also, this is a fourm about Media Center, TV, DVR....NOT games...so, your point is not really relevant here.

Yes, I exclusively use my M1 Mac mini as a video server (Plex when it’s Apple Silicon native) and iCloud / backup device. I don’t do anything else with it.

There is common misconception that Mac are not for games. Macintosh have games even in 90s where PC was just XT with primitive speaker. So before you try to offend me, better do research on platform you claim you never buy.
It's you sir who lives in fantasy world sticking with crappy Windows. eod
