I know that you can shake the remote to unmute. I think it would also be a nice feature to unmute if the up or down volume button is pressed in addition to shaking the remote.
Unfortunately tvOS does not let us detect when the volume buttons are pressed.
Wow. That sucks. Apple is too restrictive sometimes!
