Rerecording Pass

I recently moved my channels DVR from one server to another using the steps in the guide. On the new server it feels like channels is rerecording items for at least one of my passes so I end up with duplicates in my library. Like this:

In this case, channels used different file names:

This is how my pass is setup:

The movie above isn't the only circumstance so I am a bit worried I screwed something up. Did I do something wrong in the relocation?

Bring up the "Details" view for each show and click on the FileID. This will display a JSON view of the show details. Note the value for ProgramID. I suspect you will see different values for each of the supposed duplicates.

(You do this in the web admin, not the client.)

On one I see:

"ProgramID":"MV026956990000"

And the other:

"ProgramID": "A Christmas Angel Match (2025)/Directed by: Christie Will Wolf"

When I restored the backup, do the ProgramIDs get restored?

Yes. This is most likely a guide data issue that coincidentally occurred, or you just happened to notice, in conjunction with your migration.

Were they recorded from 2 different channels?

This one wasn't recorded using Gracenote guide data

Got me. They both were recorded from the same channel on the same source but on two different servers. I backed up my data, copied it over, restored channels on the new server and away it went. Seamless transition except fro this.

These are very much from different sources, you can see by the programID.

The first is from Gracenote guide data, that's why it has a normal programID. The second is from one of your third party sources via Custom Channels, hence the long verbose programID.

If an item matches a pass, and its programID isn't in the recording history, it will be recorded.

I deleted and recreated the guide database and it looks like it may be fixed. I will keep a watch on it for now. Thanks for the help.
