How do I restart the DVR server if it fails to start?

Should restart automatically. Try:
launchctl start com.getchannels.dvr

how would I reset on Linux? Should this be rebooted daily? It seems as if it loses telly channels.
You need to update your DVR to the latest beta for the telly fix. Click-and-hold on the Check for Update button.
To restart on linux, it depends on your distribution. Usually:
sysctl restart channels-dvr
But we don't recommend doing this.
I think Aman meant:
systemctl restart channels-dvr

Don't know why Channels does not have a simple Restart Sever button in the WebUI acces page.....Emby and (i assume Plex) have it. Make is super fast and simple for user to restart server for whatever reason. Easier than typing code into a Terminal window.

No, Plex does not have an option to reboot the server. Just like Channels, you need to use your operating system's tools to manage processes, including start/restart/stop. For Linux-based OSes using SystemD, this tool is systemctl (1).
