This is slightly off topic, but realize a bunch of you probably have Roku TVs and Apple TV. Have any of you had problems that started within the last month where the Roku TV thinks nothing is plugged into the input your Apple TV is on upon startup and stays that way until your turn it off and on a few times. I feel like it’s either the Roku firmware or the tvOS firmware thing. I have to go into Roku’s settings and keep refreshing the CEC list.
No issues with my TCL Roku set recognizing my Apple Tv 4k. I don't have CEC turned on though, because that's a troublemaker.
I had it happen once or twice on my 2019 TCL R625. Just the other day in fact. The white light on the ATV lit up. The Roku TV just sat at HDMI Input screen (waiting for signal).
On my newer TCL S555 I don't have any issues. Btw, I enabled Fast Tv Start in the Roku TV settings for this one and now when I press the "home" button on the Apple TV it actually wakes the TV up directly to the Apple TV input now. Before, it would still do the 5 second delay thing even though I had the default startup input set to the Apple TV. If I remember right, if I press the POWER button on the Apple TV remote it still "messes up". So... enable fast tv start and use the ATV HOME button to wake your TV.
I tried this on the R625 but it absolutely threw a fit and became extremely buggy. Had to disable Fast TV Start there.
Thanks for the reply. I have “fast start” on already and already in the habit of using the home button to turn on (maybe I’ll try fast start off to test). It’s just hit or miss at this point and seems like at least once a day this week it’ll do it. Maybe my inputs are weak/worn/bad on the tv. I’ve tried different hdmi cables and ports too.
I would try turning Fast TV Start off and see if there's any improvement. It seriously made my other R625 TV so buggy. I should have disconnected these TV's from the internet to stop any more updates...
this is the way for all tv's.
Ugh. I tried the fast TV start off today and now it turns on to the Roku Home Screen even though I have it set to go to the Apple TV input on power on.
Yeah that is the annoying part. I usually just spammed the home button a few times and waited the 5 seconds for it to switch. Probably a little less annoying than the black screen/not switching at all.
