Hello, can you tell me if ah4c appletv is available to run native instead of docker? bnhf/ah4c - Docker Image
I'm no expert with GitHub, hub, or docker. Thanks for your prior help in the forum, finally getting back to this after 9 months.
It’s strictly a Docker-based project. The learning curve on Docker is within reason though, and I think you’ll find many worthwhile projects use Docker.
It keeps the testing and maintenance requirements manageable for open source developers — who might otherwise find the variety of OS’s and hardware to support a disincentive.
Yep, thanks. I should probably post all this in the forum and not burden you here. I'm also chatting with boukmandutty regarding magewell setup. I'll be fresh installing Ubuntu on a test machine and using Intel quick sync, so that was my concern with passing through docker. Haven't tried that yet since current setup is native. Just trying to figure out best path forward. I see this now available to make magewell easier: BroadcastHub For Magewell and Decklink. I'm using Spectrum and have some spare Apple TVs. I see Spectrum app now also supports android devices but not sure what the links are for tuning. So I think sticking with your Apple TV fork of AH4C is the right answer. Any thoughts are appreciated.
I believe everything you’d need is present in the ah4c container — and I’m happy to add packages if needed. I’m definitely willing to put in the time to make the Docker version as robust as possible — but the native version (non-pyatv) is not my jam.
