Safari Browser not playing live programs from HDHR or TVE

While browsing through the web interface settings on the DVR server, I ran across the "Local Networks via TV Everywhere" experimental option. I selected it to see if any of my local stations would appear. I looked through the Guide to see where they might be, and found the NBC affiliate had a listing on channel 6000.

Going to both TvOS and iOS apps, I could not find it listed. I quit the apps, and restarted them hoping that a reload would clear up the missing channel, but it does not appear in the listing. I even tried the non-beta version of the apps, but could not find the listing for channel 6000.

Jumping back to the web interface, I did find channel 6000 listed as expected. I clicked on the listing, but when the window opened it soon showed the message "The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support." instead of the NBC affiliate. I then tried another source: channel 6052 USA Network. There I received the same error message. I tried a local channel from the HDHR Connect and received the same error message.

All live channels selected produce the same error message. I tried a recording to play back through the web interface, and it worked as expected without errors.

I tried the channel 6000 NBC feed again, but this time to record it. Selecting the recording from the web interface yielded an error free viewing experience. I switched over to the TvOS and iOS apps, and found the recording of the channel 6000 NBC feed to be error free. The source listed for this in the apps was channel 6000 NBC. There is still no channel 6000 listed in the program guide (which is in All Channels mode).

I understand "beta" and "experimental" mean that things don't always work. The Safari web browser interface to the DVR should work as that is not "beta" or "experimental".

The DVR server is a Synology DS918+ unit running 2019.12.12.0411 code.

Thanks

The app combines NBC from your HDHR and TVE into one entry on the guide.

What url are you using to access the web UI?

172.16.117.32:8089/admin/guide/grid as selected from the DVR server menu.

I also happens with the Chrome Browser in iOS. I reported this Saturday. The Channels App in iOS works with no issues on my iPad and Apple TV. There was some new updates on all Browsers this week for iOS platforms.

I have experienced this, too. However, attempting to play the same stream again immediately after works without problem.

I tried this on my iPhone and was only successful in starting a stream 20% of the time. That successful stream was flawed in that it kept rebuffed in and replaying in 3-4 second segments.

I’m looking into this. Thanks for reporting it.

I’ve just released a new DVR beta that fixes this issue. Let me know if you run into any more issues!
