Any plans to bring channels to this platform? I don’t mind using iOS and air playing to the tv but it would be nice to cut out the middle man.

No - you would still need an app to install and use on the Samsung TV itself.
My best suggestion would be to install an AppleTV for the best overall experience. Which cuts out the Samsung OS as the (vastly inferior) middleman instead.
