I set my Pass to record only NEW episodes of SNL. I just checked and noticed Channels DVR wasn't going to record tonight's season premiere of SNL... even though it's a NEW episode. I had to change the Pass to record "all" episodes in order for it to be added to the queue. Where does this guide data come from, and can shows be edited to mark new episodes as new? Thank you!
Check zap2it.com and choose your zipcode and provider.
Powered by gracenote, same as Channels DVR.
Looks like default east coast listing showed Premiere, west coast listing didn't.

My Pass is set to record NEW episodes as well and it recorded last night's episode.
It appears the discrepancy is in the guide data. My guess then is that you are on the east coast?
I am actually on the West coast.
I was looking at
Eastern Default Lineup (USA) (10001)
and
Pacific Default Lineup (USA) (90001)
You need to plug in your zipcode and provider to see what your guide data shows.
Select yesterday 11:00PM to see what was there.
Would of helped if I thought first about this one.
If something is live on the East coast at 11:29PM, that 8:29PM West coast, duhh!

Is the episode that recorded marked as New on the dvr web UI?
OK, I was confused. I've come over from decades with TiVo so I might have to think about this differently.
I went to check my guide at 10:30 PM, just to check to see if SNL would be recorded, in an hour. My guide is set up to only showing the west coast channels. But I eyeball the guide and see via the color of the background in the grid, what will and won't record. So I was confused why last night's "NEW" episode wasn't going to record. Instead I set it to manually record, and then came here to ask why.
What I didn't realize is that my Pass had already recorded the season premiere of SNL at 8:30 PM via the east coast feed. So now, in review, I have two recordings. The DVR web UI shows the east coast feed as "new" and "live," but the west coast feed is neither. I guess the answer here would be for me to remove the east coast feed entirely? Or restrict the Pass to only record from one channel, if I want to reduce this confusion in the future?
A client's guide is separate from the sources and priorities used for the DVR. The list of sources for recording, and whether those sources' channels are favorites or disabled, is wet from the DVR's web UI. The list of sources in the clients, and which channels are favorites or disabled, are managed individually and separate from the DVR's setting.
(Also, the priority/order of the sources in the client determines which version of a channel is shown in the guide and which duplicates get merged into the higher priority version.)
If the programming is identical I would just consider it a bonus that you get it three hours early.
My local (west coast) NBC affiliate airs it at both 8:29PM (which is Live, 11:29PM on the east coast) and again at 11:29PM (which is 2:29AM on the east coast).
Only the 8:29PM airing gets tagged with Live and New. Channels only displays the New tag.
Tags: [ "CC", "HD 1080i", "HDTV", "Letterbox", "Live", "New", "Stereo" ]
Really? When browsing the guide, Live tags are displayed both in the description at the top of the Guide page, as well as being listed in the Details modal.
In addition, on Android TV, if you have enabled the On Now channel—that's the name that Android TV gives to the rows on the home screen provided by different applications—programs that have the Live tag are shown with a red progress indicator on the home screen, and the program image has a red Live badge in the lower-right corner.
I don't doubt you, but only the New tag displays in the web UI guide (as a blue vertical line), search results (as the tag NEW) and scheduled recordings (as the tag NEW). If I click a single item in the grid guide, the popup for that airing does show all the tage.
Sorry, didn't realize you were talking about the web UI. Also, not sure it's fair to say that the Live tag isn't displayed, when you just admitted that it's present in the web UI's Detail modal.
mine is also set for new episodes and recorded last night's episode (watching it now actually). i'm in the LA market with both TVE and locast set up but i record NBC/ABC/FOX shows from the TVE streams...if that matters.
