Saving Recordings to Appropriately Named Folders

Hey Everyone,

We’re new to channels, and love it so far, but having a small issue. We’re using Channels to record and Plex to playback. Right now I have both Apple TV’s authorized and the guides are downloaded for both HomeRun Prime devices we have. I’ve tested the record feature, and it works just fine. I’m having an issue with everything going into a folder called TV. Is there an automated way to put things in their own folder. Example. If I am recording Dirty Jobs, I’d like the folder to be named exactly what’s being downloaded, instead of everything being dumped into a folder called TV.

Does this make sense?

Thank you so much in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Tony

Not sure what you mean… there should be a Dirty Jobs folder inside the TV folder.

No dirty jobs folder. It went into a folder it made on its own called TV.

Can you take a screenshot?

For example I recorded the Olympics and this is what the folder/file structure looks like:

TV/2018 Winter Olympics/2018 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony 2018-02-09-1700.mpg

Sounds like maybe you didn’t configure Plex correctly. You need to add the DVR’s TV folder to your tv library, and the DVR’s Movies folder to your movies library.

Plex is fine. Anything recorded in plex or by plex is
good. It goes into the appropriate folder. The channels DVR puts it into a folder called TV ( we remapped the folders to the plex libraries).

What directory is Channels DVR configured to write to? You should be using a dedicated folder just for Channels DVR. The DVR will put not only recordings but other data like backups in that directory.

To use Plex with your recordings, you would specifically add the Channels DVR TV folder to your Plex library.

I will try that. What I did was change the folder to where I have all of my media stored. Not just a dedicated folder for channels DVR. Ill let you know how it works out.
