Seagate Personal Cloud NAS as DVR not recording

So I snagged a Seagate Personal Cloud 4tb NAS as storage for my DVR files. Setup went fine if a little slow. But my AppleTV 4th gen will see the DVR and allow me to setup recordings and season passes. However it won’t actually record. It’ll indicate its recording in the on screen guide. But nothing actually gets recorded. I had it working fine with just an external drive and the server running on my iMac. Switch it to the NAS and it won’t work.

Is there something simple I’m missing? Thoughts?

What does the log say?

Did you uninstall from the Mac? It might still be talking to that one. In Terminal, run:

./channels-dvr/uninstall.sh

So my log is saying

“Error running job 1502263800-1 Wild Kratts: mkdir /shares/jamestallon/DVR/TV/Wild Kratts: permission denied”

Looks like that’s the issue. However I have read/write access to the NAS. I’ve added and deleted stuff for the Plex portion of it. Is there a Channels only read/write setting I’m missing?

I didn’t. But I completely turned the Mac off and it was still not working. Turns out its likely the permission denied problem in a further post.

Have you tried to create a new folder?

When you run ls -alh on the DVR folder, what permissions does it show?

It actually wasn’t letting me change the permissions on it. Could just be my inexperience with terminal.

I solved the read/write problem by just moving the DVR folder to the Public Access folder on the NAS. Now it looks like it’s working.

I’ve got it setup to record a few things over the next few hours. Will come back if there are still issues.
