Season Pass - New Episodes

When setting a season pass to “New Episodes”, does this mean new as in first time on TV ever or as in never recorded by the Channels app (e.g. an episode of Password '78 airing now but never have been recorded by Channels)?

Also, “All Episodes”… does this mean every episode even if it has been recorded before? In other words, will it record the same episode twice, even if it has been deleted?

Thanks!

New - first airing, literally. New to the world.
All episodes - every episode that aires

Channels will never record something it has already recorded.

So to be 100% clear, if I set something to New and I am recording All in the Family, it would never record an episode, correct?

For clarification:

Last line…Even if the previously recorded show has been deleted from Channels DVR?

Is there a way, if you want, to persuade it to re-record something it’s recorded and you deleted? E.g.: Suppose it was a bad recording, but you knew it’d come around again, so you wanted to re-record it?

Correct. You can change this per-pass using the advanced editor to enable the “re-record deleted” option.

If you find another airing on the web UI it will be marked as “recorded” and you can click that state to “mark as not recorded” so the DVR forgets it was recorded before and allows passes to match that episode again.

I do want to add an explicit “delete and re-record” for bad recordings as well.

“New” isn’t necessarily first time ever aired on TV. Depending upon the channel, it can also mean the first airing on that particular channel.
