@tmm1 is there an update on this yet? I see it’s been outstanding a long time.
I recently bought a HDHomeRun Quadro. Great machine.
I found Channels because of no native app for Apple TV. So Ive subscribed to DRV, installed Channels DVR on Apple TV, iPhones, iPads and Fire TV’s through the house. Ive installed the beta apps too just to help with bugs etc. All good so far.
However, Series Pass is a big fail in its current implementation. Because you cant select a specific channel to use as Series Pass from any apps, its not really fit for purpose. For example, I’m UK based. I setup a Series Pass to record Eastenders (UK soap - watched and loved by the Mrs) a few days ago. I set the option to record New Episodes, knowing that the show is on BBC 1 and BBC 1 HD. Also I’m aware there is an omnibus that the BBC play on a Sunday - this is all episodes shown on Sunday back to back from the week. I expect the omnibus to not get recorded and it hasn’t been added to the list, which is exactly what I would expect to happen.
However, the fail is that another UK channel, Drama, play old reruns of the show, reruns that are about 10 to 15 years old. All of these reruns have been added to the Series Pass. So, today I had to delete all the episodes that have been record and will now have to go edit the Series Pass as described above. Thankfully I’m now aware how I, the admin at home, can do this however I would not expect anyone else in the house to be accessing the admin side of the server in case they mess it up.
Series Pass really does need the ability to select just the current channel as an option when creating the pass from inside the apps. When will this feature be picked up and looked at again? In the mean time, there is a very high chance that others in the household can go into the server options and end up messing settings up just to edit the pass
