Hello all. I'm very happy with switching over to Synology however I am still unfamiliar with how to setup external (phone or web) access to the DVR. I'm also concerned with good cyber security ensuring that it stays secure. Does anyone have good recommendations on how to setup external access using DSM 7.0 and ensuring it stays secure?
Accessing DSM remotely and accessing your DVR remotely are two separate things. To access your DVR, you will need to forward port 8089 on your router to the local IP of your Synology. You'll want to set that IP as static in your router settings as well. Then go to http://my.channelsdvr.net and scroll down to Remote Access to turn it on.
