Security when port forwarding

I have Cox as my ISP and when I set up Channels I logged into my cox gateway and set up port forwarding so I can watch my Channels content outside of my home network. Everything worked great the first night. The next day when I tried to open the Channels app outside of the house it wouldn't reconnect. When I got home I logged into my Cox admin and saw that Cox security had flagged communication on that port as suspicious and wanted me to delete the port forward. So I deleted the port forward and turned off advanced security and re-set up the port forward. Everything is working great now with no issues. However, I'm concerned my home network is less secure. Has anyone else had this issue/concern? Should I be worried?

No, nothing to worry about.
