Separate locals at vacation home

Apologies if the answer has already been posted. I have Channels DVR installed on a Mac Mini that I can access at a vacation home using Apple TVs over the internet. Can I simply add another HDHomerun device at the vacation home for the locals there and access it directly using the Channels app on the Apple TV? Or do I need a separate instance of Channels DVR at the vacation home? I wouldn’t want to record those locals if that matters.

Yes you can add a local HDHR. It will let you watch live but not record.

How would guide data work in this scenario? I assume one would have to scan network for tuners, will it have guide data?

IIRC It uses 4h free guide data from SiliconDust for the local tuner on the Apple TV

Awesome! Just for anyone else that ever looks at this thread, what if I did want to record at some point in the future? Setup channels DVR just for the locals there on an Rpi and connect to both instances of Channels DVR within the app? Do I then need two licenses of Channels DVR?

One license will work

While what you suggested will work for recording...

This will not work. You can't connect to multiple servers at once. You'll need to manually switch back and forth.
