In recent weeks, a couple of my series passes stopped recording. When I looked closer, the channel numbers had been changed to channels where my chosen series do not ever air. For example, a series that normally airs on channel number X.1 gets changed to channel number X.2. When I manually edit the channel number and save the pass, recording resumes for a day or two – but then it changes itself back to the wrong channel number and stops recording again.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any idea what could be causing it?
Pretty vague.
stopped recording, channel numbers have been changed, X.1, X.2
You need to give specifics and show your advanced pass if you want help.
My “advanced pass”? What the heck is that?
I posted a detailed account of the glitch I’m experiencing. The only thing I can add is that even when I change to a completely different channel, after a day or two it automatically reverts the pass to the (wrong) channel it was using previously. This happens even when I delete the pass and create a new one.
Specifically, my original pass was set to record from channel 9.1, but it kept changing mysteriously to channel 9.2 – where the program never airs. So I deleted that pass and created a new one recording the same program from 22.1. This worked for a day or two, but then it mysteriously changed back to 9.2 – no idea why.
Found this via the web UI, which was a real pain in the ass to access. Not seeing anything in here that might add to what I've already described, but I must be missing something.
One more detail I forgot to mention:
I can change the Channel to Any, and it still reverts to 9.2 within a couple days.
Again, this program does not ever air on 9.2 -- but it does air locally on 9.1 and on 22.1. So regardless of whether I specify 9.1, 22.1 or no particular channel, within a couple days the system changes it to 9.2 and it does this persistently.
I had a similar happen a few years ago when the listings went wacky.
Try this in the pass advanced tab:
Channel > 9.0
Channel < 9.2
I also do that so I don't get ATSC 3.0 recordings using something like:
Channel < 99
(because ATSC 3.0 channels are always 100 or higher where I live.)
Are you running any 3rd party add-ons for Channels in docker containers or anything? There isn't anything in the DVR that would be adjusting Season Passes once they're saved.
Changes the pass to Channel == 9.2?
Or do you mean the pass records something from Channel 9.2?
You could have another pass setup that's recording from 9.2.
You can check the recording made to see which pass recorded it.
Clicking on the underlined pass will display it
If your sources or channels are changing it's best to let Channels DVR assign the Channel Numbers, then Delete and Recreate the guide database.
Nope. No add-ons, at least none of which I'm aware. Will try to make sure none were installed without my knowledge though.
Not recording from 9.2 -- it's changing the Channel value in the pass to 9.2 ... and of course, since the program doesn't ever air on that channel, nothing is recorded.
Will also try deleting and recreating the guide db.
I've never heard of that happening, and from the developers
Thanks. Since I changed to Channel < 9.2 and Channel > 9.0 in Advanced, it hasn't switched back to Channel == 9.2 ... but it's only been two days. (Also hasn't recorded either of the episodes that aired in the meanwhile.) Still baffled as to why it kept doing that. How might I enable verbose logging and view the activity logs?
You wont see anything in logs since Channels DVR cannot change a pass without a user doing it.
And even when a user does change it, it's not logged.
Anyone else using client devices to connect to your server?
It can be changed from a channels client.
