Unless I’m missing something obvious, there is no way to set a series to record from the guide, I have to go to the dvr section and search for the program I want to record. Is this something that could be added, either a sperate menu option, or a choice to choose series or single record after selecting the record option?
Another useful option that I can’t find is the ability to restrict a series record to a specific channel?

Are you referring to the iOS app, tvOS app or the web UI? You should be able to use the Create Pass button after clicking Record on iOS and tvOS.
Currently you can’t pick an airing show to get the recording menu on tvOS, because that plays the show. We’ll be visiting this issue soon when some time frees up. I don’t like it either, heh.
But you can do it for shows in the future on the guide.
Sorry complete lack of detail, I’m talking about currently airing shows in the TV Guide on tvOS, I’ll often be watching something and decide I want to record the rest of the series.
You can swipe down the Quick Guide and click the Record Button, then click Create Pass
