This is odd. I'm starting to seriously play with this in preparation for rolling it out to the family. The server on Windows 10 appears to have all the channels I expect, but my Fire Stick 4K MAX client is missing several channels. Any thoughts?
The channel guide in the web interface on the server shows all the channels I expect. The guide on the Fire Stick is missing several channels. I can however tune to those missing channels with the numeric keypad.
Go to apps on your firestick stop Channels DVR and clear the data... then restart the Channels DVR app..
That appears to have done it, thanks!
I generally goto the settings >> manage sources >> name.of.your.tuner >> "sync favs or hidden" and "import from source" to keep the clutter of channels under control.
Likely only useful if you are picky about the hidden and favorite channels though.
[edit] A comment below made me realize I should have specified this post is concerning the client, (Android TV) in my case.
Ughhh, it's back, and now even uninstall/reinstall isn't helping. I'm going to try installing to an android tablet and see what happens.
I only use the All channel group. Thanks though.
Tried three other Fire TV clients, all missing the same channels. Loaded Channels on an android phone and they appear normally.
I believe in the settings there is a way (on each client) to have it sync channels FROM the server. For some strange reason, I still have to do this once in a while, but not so often once Aman made some fixes a while ago. jkr4m3r already described this above, but I recall being able to do this for all channels for that particular tuner.
I'll check that out. I've been setting everything from the server so far. Didn't realize until today that not all settings are available there.
Thanks. I went into the first source (HDhomerun Prime) on a Fire Stick and Imported the Favorites/Hidden list. So far so good.
That made other channels disappear. Ughhh....
Oddly enough, the ones missing now are SD versions of ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX.
Sounds like a Stack Duplicates setting issue?
I do this too. Otherwise I see ranom HDHR channels get inserted maybe once a week? Like Ch 5004, 14.1, etc. It's annoying!
For like the fourth time, I think that did it. I wonder why it didn't affect Android? If it stays this way I'm very happy.
TMM1 nailed it, though others came close. Thanks!
I just reconfigured a FireTV max client this last weekend, and even after telling it to go and adopt the enabled/disabled channels from the server (per tuner), it couldn't do it successfully. I ended up having to do it manually ... again. The real fun comes when an HDHomerun OTA tuner manages to barely pick up a new station, or a station change somewhere, and magically channels just start showing up in the guide - channels that can't actually be tuned successfully - try explaining this fiasco to the family.
Had the same experience again this weekend brand new FireTV 4k max, and now have a family member attempting to watch TV on channels that can't tune. Would you folks be willing to at least look at fixing the problem with the client sync to server channel list?
Or can I at least have some semblance of control over a clients enabled/disabled channels per source?
What is your setting for Stack Duplicates? IIRC I resolved my issue with this by setting it to By Channel Number. (On Fire clients it is the last setting under Manage Sources)
I just checked and this client is set to "By Channel Number." I have no idea what that is, or why it exists, but that would appear to be the default for a current install. So I guess that wasn't it, but thank you for the suggestion.
