Server Configuration for Onn Streamer

I just installed Channel server and am trying to add an Onn streamer as a source but am unable to select it as a source. What am I missing?

Add your service, not your device.

Sources: Hulu live, YouTube, directv, etc.

An onn streamer is a client, not a source. onn streamers can be used with something like ADBTuner but typical sources are things like HDHomerun ota tuner or TV Everywhere.

The android TV streamer has a "live tv" tab that has a combination of free streaming services and the local tv that streams in the area as well as channels for specific programs. My hope was to be able replicate that with a quick easy way to record. I'm trying to ween the family from the xfinity DVR

If you are familiar with docker or willing to learn, there are some self hosted free tv sources you can add to channels DVR

There is a Pluto source that is hosted for free by a community member

You might need to do some research in this forum about the availability of different options.

Probably best to list the sources you're after - obviously xfinity (which is easily addable without add-ons), but any others?

Channels' best feature is source combinations like these. It's not quite as simple as the android live tv stuff you're looking at, but it's much MUCH more feature-rich.

If you want to integrate other sources outside the built-in stuff, here's what you should do:

  1. Get and install Docker

  2. I highly recommend any Channels user's first Docker container be OliveTin for Channels (EZ Start: The Next Generation Edition) . It will give you all the info and ability to deploy everything else. Basically, you get this running, you've got all the things people here have created and maintain.

  3. Using OliveTin for Channels, install FAST and similar providers like Pluto, Plex, Tubi, Samsung TV+, ESPN+, NFL+, and/or whatever else you may like!

  4. Doing the same, install Streaming Library Manger for Channels (listed as "Stream Link Manager") and use the Playlist Manager extension to organize, maintain, and seamlessly integrate these vast amount of stations you will get from this into Channels.

  5. Take advantage of Channels' built-in functionality like Channels Collections to make your station lists much more manageable and organized.

  6. Search the resources already created on this board (note how much I've linked to other posts, that in turn are linked to further ones) and the Channels support documentation because there is a lot already out there.

  7. If you want to take it to the next level and start integrating other things, it's time to start talking about Chrome Capture for Channels and (better yet) ADBTuner for Channels.

That looks like it's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
