Server Discovery

I recently added a new Apple TV connected to my network via WiFi and the Channels app failed to automatically find the server when I started the app for the first time. Not a big deal, I manually entered the IP and it connected and worked fine. However, I was wondering how the discovery works and what may cause it to fail as I'd like to make sure my network is configured 'correctly'.

Both the Apple TV and channels server are using 192.168.1.x addresses and work once I manually entered the IP so I don't think any of the potential causes mentioned on the Channels support article (Channels Support - Channels can't discover or connect to my Channels DVR Server or HDHomeRun.) apply.

I'm using an OPNsense box as a router with Ruckus unleashed wireless access points. My channels server is using a wired connection. The new Apple TV is connecting via WiFi.

Bonjour aka zeroconf is used for discovery

Thanks.

Turns out I'm an idiot and a moron. 'Network Discovery' was disabled in the Channels server settings.
