Server updater bug

When I click and hold check for updates on settings/status, It tells me I need to refresh. When I do that, it still shows the old version. I have tried it in firefox and edge with the same result.

No windows update available

Just tried it again and got this.

2024/01/17 18:18:27.123876 [SYS] Error checking for update: safety check failed: exit status 1
2024/01/17 18:19:33.917942 [SYS] Downloading new version v2024.01.17.2015
2024/01/17 18:19:39.409708 [SYS] Error checking for update: rename C:\ProgramData\ChannelsDVR\2024.01.17.2015 C:\ProgramData\ChannelsDVR\latest: Access is denied.

The error hasn't changed: it looks like you have some type of permissions issue with your install directory. You need to resolve that before Channels can do anything.

I tried uninstalling deleting the folder in programdata and reinstalling no change. clearly not a permissions issue on my server.

If the app is being told by the OS it doesn't have the access permissions needed to modify a directory, by definition there are permissions issues.

What version of windows are you running ?

This indicates the new build isn't running on your system.

Did you check for windows updates?

I am running win 11 23h2.

no windows updates

I may have a temporary solution and am wondering if anyone has a permanent one:

I recently installed acronis. when I pause protect in acronis, It works on the second try.

Does anyone have a guide for using channels with acronis

I sounds like Acronis is trying to "protect" your Channels installation, and won't let it update.

This is an Acronis issue, and it sounds like you found the solution.

I disabled protect and tried updating from a different machine on my lan didn't work. then I rdp into my server and it worked.

What does this mean?

Imagine 2 different computers on the same network, desktop and server. channels dvr is running on server. I sat down in front of desktop, opened a web browser and connected to channels dvr running on server. I then clicked and held check for updates and had the same issues. I then rdp into server opened a web browser on server and connected to channels dvr running on localhost. I then clicked and held check for updates and it worked.

If both computers could access the DVR web UI, then all is as it should be. Regardless of which computer you accessed the server's web UI from, the results should have been identical, as the request would have come from the server.

That you had different results, I would be led to believe you have some other network issues going on, too.
