Setting up Channels Package for Synology

Hi All

I have just purchasing a Synology DS220j for my Channels recordings (I previously had a Western Digital and so need to migrate my recordings etc)

However I've had a problem at an early stage. I am trying to add the Channels "package" to my Synology NAS. I've downloaded the Channels DVR server (ChannelsDVR_1.1.0.spk) however when I try to manually upload into my Synology NAS I get the message "Invalid File Format".

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Did you use the Package Center and click on Manual Install. Then browse to your spk file. You will also need the DSM 7 version and not the DSM 6 version if you fully upgraded the Synology NAS software.

Thanks @jxxaxxy. I was mistakenly downloading the DSM6 version and not DSM7. It has now uploaded.

My next problem is how to move my Channels DVR (with all recordings and settings) from my old WD across to to my Synology. The article on the Channels website refers to "go to your Channels DVR server's web admin". Does anyone know how I'd navigate to this please? Due to the WD MyCloud no longer supporting Channels I cannot get to my previous Channels DVR.

Thanks

You can skip forward in that case. On your MyCloud you should find a DVR folder with all your data. Inside you would see Database, TV, Movies, Logs, Images

Thanks. I've located them. Do I literally just copy/paste them across from WD to my Synology?

You can copy them and point your new Channels server to that same Directory. You'll get an option to restore a database when you start up and log in to the new Channels server. At this point, you (normally) want to select the latest backup.

I should be clear that you point your new server to the copy of that original directory on your Synology drive volume.
