Setting up new hard drive

Running on RPi4 4GB with WD 4TB Elements drive, no remote access, TVE sources only. For the last month, system has been slow, difficult to access, and pause/play/repeat on recordings. Per devs, probable cause is bad hard drive.

If I move to a new drive, any recommendations other than my current? Do I burn image on new drive before copying recordings over? How do I move 1.5 TB of recordings over to new using only an old Windows PC?

Get an ssd usb drive. I use the Samsung T7 and it is rock solid.

Things come to a virtual halt if I’m recording more than two or three shows. Does your SSD handle multiple recordings/processing and watching simultaneously, or am I expecting too much from the RPi4?

I have been recording 2 things while watching other thing just fine. I have tuner sharing off though. Not sure if that would affect performance.

All my sources are only TVE. I don’t know if tuner sharing comes into play in my case. My background is financial, not technical!

TVE sources are always shared. now can I get a stock tip I am not financial but technical ...

Just kidding ... about tip

So do I turn off Tuner Sharing? Best tip I can give is to befriend Elon.

It does not matter if you are using TVE , Pluto etc ... The server makes all connections/logins and shares the stream. Tuner Sharing is only for Silicondust tuners.
