Sharing a show with friends or relatives

Currently my wife and her sister often copy shows between each other because of a recording failure caused by power, cable outage or hardware failure. In Media Center when you place a copy of a MC recorded tv show in the Recorded TV folder, Media Center is able to add it your show library along with all metadata.

Say they are both using Channels DVR, how can they do the same thing with Channels DVR?

adding the channels DVR directory to plex and then sharing out using plex would be pretty simple

I use Plex to access my recordings remotely. Works really well.

Yea, something like Plex would be the appropriate way to dot this.
