Shortcuts?

Is there a way to create a desktop shortcut to a live channel? Right now, I have to open Safari, go to the server page, click On Now, click on the channel, and click Watch. Five clicks. I know, first world problem, but…

Hmmm.

One option is to right click copy url on the Watch button and use that. Only caveat is that there’s no stop button in that case, so the transcoder and tuner will remain in use for five minutes after you stop watching.

I’ll see if we can make this easier in the web UI itself.

Yes, I guess that’s an option. Any way to maybe play the stream in Quicktime or VLC?

The Watch url should work in any player. It won’t stop automatically until timeout, as mentioned earlier.

Doesn’t seem to work in Quicktime (Open Location…) or VLC (Open Network…). The format I get for the shortcut is http://MyIP:8089/devices/ANY/channels/600/hls. In Safari, as you said, it opens the video player and works great, but no stop button.

I see, it’s because Safari is logged in but the other apps aren’t.

I plan to add one-time authentication to those watch URLs, but that won’t help you much because it would require you to copy a new url every time.
